David C Martins
Born in 1972, in the heart of Porto, it was here that, for the first time, I saw... light.
I remember, as a child, admiring my father taking pictures with his Konica Auto S1.6 (which is now part of my small collection of cameras). Aperture, speed, depth of field... all these concepts seemed quite complex but, at the same time, substantiated a very intriguing world.
The first photos arose, naturally, in the need and desire to record some moments with family, friends or on my travels.
It was during one of these travels, to New York, in 1999, that I started to see people and places in a different way.... through the lenses of my first SLR, a Nikon F60.
The passion started then and has never stopped growing until today.
Through the years I have published my work in several online communities, launched my personal website in 2002 and, in 2013, started to publish my photos in my personal page in Facebook and later on in Instagram. These, along with some exhibitions and a book, are simply a way to share my passion for photography.
B&W is, currently, my favorite way to record light, it's always a challenge to be able to eliminate colour from (almost) everything I observe.

Your eyes and your soul are your most important gear. Nevertheless you will always need a way to record what your eyes see and what your soul feels!

Remember, the best camera is the camera you have in your hands!
